Low-Carb

simple syrup

Yield: 400ml

Serving size: 30ml (2 tbs)

220g (1 cup) erythritol or xylitol

250ml (1 cup) water

(optional) 1/4 ts. salt

(optional) 1/2 ts. flavoring essence, such as vanilla, almond, hazelnut, etc.

Bring all ingredients to a boil together in a small pot and simmer for 3 minutes, then cool to room temperature and store in a glass jar or bottle.

Will keep in the fridge for 1 month. (The erythritol may start to come out of solution and crystalize after a few days, in this case just warm the syrup until it has all re-dissolved.)

Nutrition Info:
Please note that I used MyFitnessPal (a FREE app) to calculate this info, so it may not be 100% accurate, AND I don't think it tracks net carbs, so a portion of the carbs listed may be processed by your body as fiber and NOT actually absorbed as energy.

net carbs = total carbs - dietary fiber (dietary fiber is what makes up about half of most sugar-alcohols, as well as most of the carbs in coconut flour)
